First of all, our goal is to make a profit.  In the cattle business this is much easier said than done.  At Haverlah Ranches our goal is to raise the type of cattle that will help our customer towards that goal.

Our definition of an efficient cow is one that weans at least 50% of her body weight while maintaining her body condition so she can breed back and produce another calf.  We expect our cattle to do this with a minimum amount of inputs.  Our goal is to produce cattle that our customers can build their herd from with confidence.

A productive cow is one that breeds back every year and raises a healthy calf.  She is not a high milk, hard keeping cow.  We want this cow to be moderate in both frame size and milking capability.  We think a large part of this productivity is a cow raising numerous calves by the time she is 10 years old.  We also feel that the best bulls come from highly productive females.
